NZWN MSFS2020 Preview

Post by StarBlue » Thu Aug 26, 2021 10:17 am

Hi,

Just saw the MSFS2020 Previews for Wellington on your Blog! Looking really awesome as usual. I have one tiny request, when I used this addon with P3D, you had the option to have the Lord of the Rings "Middle of Middle Earth" instead of "Wild at Heart". Can this be an option for this one as well? I like to fly the NZWN -> NZAA route when I want a short flight, so I'm really looking forward to this and NZAA being upgraded to MSFS2020!

Looking superb as usual. Will you be able to model the slope at the threshold of runway 16 in MSFS? That would be awesome! Also, the area around Ridges hotel is fully completed now, so if you need some up-to-date photos, please get in touch.

The slope at runway 16 along with the hill next to it is already in and complete! Same with the finished construction around Rydges Hotel :)

Hey,

Amazing work on NZWN so far, cannot wait for it's release as a fellow wellingtonian. I know this may sound like a miniature detail, but will each individual jetway have the air new zealand crew poster, as It was previously included in P3D Wellington, and would definitely add realism of the airport.

Additionally I'd like to ask, will a small vicinity of the exterior of NZWN be detailed, such as Evans Bay coming into the airport on the RWY 16 Approach, as in msfs2020 there is no work done to this area.

Thanks and cannot wait to purchase this beautiful airport

Cheers,
Alexei

Hey Flightbeam,

I'm here wondering if their will be any updates regarding NZWN and NZAA, as their have been no updates for either of them, especially NZWN. I completely understand that a scenery takes time and I appreciate everything you guys are doing to improve user experience, but at this rate, not having received updates for months, I myself and I assume others are becoming impatient waiting, as these airports were promised to be released back in August and now it being mid-way through October. I hope you understand and wish you all the best with the development of future airports.

Looking forward to development updates

All the best!

Regards
Alexei

Would greatly appreciate any updates also. So looking forward to these airports (especially with Auckland City Landmark pack released), but checking for news on your website 4 times a day is getting painful! xoxo

As posted in the NZAA sub-forum by Mir - "I've been a bit delayed by the problems caused by the recent two MSFS Sim Updates. There are a couple of critical issues that need to be fixed by Asobo before the product can be released. The good news is that Asobo has acknowledged them and has confirmed the fix will be in the next update."

Basically it's a bit longer to wait - also Alexei - the last update for NZAA was the 14th September (so not months ago :) )

Hey Eastern,

I appreciate your response and time.

I'd like to refer to a statement made by Mir in the sub-forum (NZAA), that an update regarding at least NZAA was to be made "this week', which was posted on the 28th September 2021, and it is now October 18th, but yet I do not recall seeing any updates for either airports, which I completely understand as scenery does take time to develop and doesn't happen overnight.

Additionally, you've said that the last update for NZAA was on 14th September, which is correct, but in my original message, I had spoken about specifically NZWN, as we haven't received dev updates since August 26th, which was 'months ago'.

Also I'd like to add, I understand that they are facing issues and are yet to be fixed by Asobo, and this all links back to the state of the game when it was released, but that is an argument for another day, it is just very abnormal to receive very little news about these long-awaited airports.

I hope you all understand and as someone who grew up in Wellington , I myself am very keen on flying in and out of this beautiful airport.

Regards
Alexei

I can't speak for Mir but hopefully we'll have an update soon, the way I understand it is the issues are from the recent updates, not necessarily from the start of the sim (but like you said, this point doesn't matter)

I can't wait for both airports either, NZ is a beautiful country and I have family who recently moved to Auckland so hopefully we hear a more recent update soon with the update this week :)

Hi all, as Eastern pointed out.. the massive delay was indeed caused by SU5 which was catastrophic in terms of development. All product releases and development were on hold until some critical elements of the SDK and game were fixed. That was done this week.
One other thing: I'm human. Mistakes will happen, especially with timelines and promises. Making updates in our blog with screenshots and social media takes a lot of time, which is pulled directly away from development. So sometimes you will see my promises about updates being broken, but that doesn't mean the product is abandoned, the contrary actually; I'm drowning in development trying to get it out :D

NZWN is actually coming right after NZAA. As always I never provide specific dates since even I don't know. What is known: It's in a very advanced state of development and there's really not much left apart from polishing and night time assets. NZWN is a bit tricky though, not only there's terrain all around the airport, with a sloped runway, but water as well. This airport needs some care and attention to detail.

Appreciate your interest and patience!
