Jetstar Domestic - NIGS

Post by tcastest » Tue Jul 13, 2021 4:01 pm

Hi FB, congrats on the release on NZAA, it is absolutely stunning.
I was wondering if you guys had any photos of the NIGS systems used on the JQ domestic bays 20-24. I haven't been able to see anything online.
Thanks,
SD

I do not have anything on that. Mir might, but I cannot speak for him.

Hi there and thanks for your kind words.
During my airside survey there I did not notice any NIGS systems at the domestic terminal. Maybe things have changed.. but I assumed they use a Marshaller instead.

That’s originally what I thought, but I think I can just make out something here. Image
I have a feeling it’s an agnis, using a PAPA on the left here. Image
Do you happen to have any photos looking at those bays possibly?

Thanks again,
SD

SD, I guess my real question is what are you asking for from us? Like do you just want to see photos of the system, are you requesting something? Just trying to understand the nature behind the post.

Thank you.

Upon further inspection of my survey images, it does appear to have some sort of NIGS.. I'm not sure what type this is though.

Page 26 of this document says that all domestic gates 20-33 have visual guidance docking. I’m not sure what type, the AIP only mentions Safedock NIGS for international terminal.

@SD, Appreciate the response. As you can see from Mir post above, he had some reference photos.

Hope that is what you were looking for.

I can chime in here - there are indeed AGNIS (Azimuth Guidance for Nose-In Stands). These are very simple and don't have any smarts. All works off green and red lights, and two vertical slits.
"One system in common use has two vertical, parallel light bars. Both appear green when the aircraft is on the stand centreline but, if it is displaced to the left or right, the light on that side turns red, inviting the pilot to turn towards the green light to regain the centreline."

This is combined with something similar mounted on the light pole that's angled at the pilot. It might even be the exact same setup, as these gates were only ever taking one type of aircraft the 737, and now the A320.
